Overview

A collection of unrelated legal documents from different countries and other political entities in continental Europe, dating from approximately the 1300s to the early 1800s. Documents come from Germany, Austria, the Holy Roman Empire, Iberia, Italy, France, Belgium, and unknown geographic locations.

This collection contains various Cold War-era peace posters and artworks from various sources, countries, and organizations. Includes posters from religious organizations, such as Quaker and Mennonite groups, as well as organizations formed specifically for peace and against nuclear armament, and university and municipal groups.

Overview Fragments and scraps of manuscripts, including texts, letters, sheet music, and other items. These items were removed from book bindings of books held by the Kenneth Spencer Research Library in the Special Collections. Fragments were typically removed from those bindings when the Library sent items out for conservation or rebinding in the mid-20th century. Herk Harvey was an actor, vice president, director, and producer for Centron Films in Lawrence, Kansas. This collection contains film treatments, notes, correspondence, catalogs, slides, contracts, a mayoral proclamation, news articles, photographs, scripts, and an Academy Award Nomination plaque.

Overview American science fiction writer Theodore Sturgeon (1918-1985) was considered an innovator of the genre and one of the first real stylists. He began publishing short stories in the 1930s. In his lifetime Sturgeon authored six novels and numerous short stories. John T. Alexander taught Russian/Soviet history in the History Department at the University of Kansas. This collection contains several manuscripts in various draft stages as well as class notes, class syllabi, bibliographic materials, his curriculum vitae, publication materials and articles, and other related materials from his academic career.

Marilyn Stokstad joined the Art History faculty at the University of Kansas in 1958 and led the department in several roles before earning emerita status as the Judith Harris Murphy Distinguished Professor of Art History. This collection of her papers includes notes, chapters, and proofs for the textbook Art History, family history and photographs, personal and professional correspondence, and reports and notes related to the University of Kansas.

Richard Rhodes, born in Kansas City, Kansas, is a Pulitzer Prize-winning author whose many books and articles reflect his wide ranging subject interests. In these papers are manuscripts of his writings, copies of his many published works, related correspondence, some personal material and photographs, and the author's extensive research files, containing more than one hundred audio tapes of interviews that he conducted.
